Tomáš Hulík (Born in Prague 3rd June 1976) Graduated in Environmental Studies at the Faculty of Natural Science in Bratislava. He took part in scientific and photographic expeditions to the Russian Far East, Sakhalin Island, Lake Baikal, Borneo, Sumatra, South Korea, Norway, Mongolia and Kenya. He photographs mostly nature, animals and landscape. He is no stranger to documentary photography (Tsunami in Banda Aceh in Sumatra in 2005 from the cycle People). He publishes in prestigious magazines such as National Geographic (Czech edition), GEO (Slovak edition), Austrian Universum and other media in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. He received a bronze medal in the Landscape and Reportage category in FEP European Professional Photographer of The Year 2011 and won Slovak Press Photo 2014 in the Environment category. He is a laureate of the Foundation Tatra Bank Prize for the arts in 2011: Young Artist in the Audiovisual Arts, Film TV and Radio category. He is the Nikon Ambassador for Slovakia. Tomas also works in television as a cameraman, director and producer. He has made a few films about beavers, which were aired by ORF, ZDF, ARTE and Discovery Channel Television stations. He made a documentary film about the High Tatras - Wilderness Frozen in Time and The Return of the Lynx for Austrian ORF. Among his latest films is Journeys through Slovakia, The King of the Skies: The Eagle and Wild Slovakia.
Among his hobbies are contemporary arts, travelling - closely linked with his photographic passion and looking for inspiration and animals willing to pose in front of his camera lens. Unfortunately there are fewer undamaged places and the number of animals easy to photograph and so Tomas is devoting more and more time to nature protection to maintain it for the future generations.
